Maize is a warm climate crop, however, due to its adaptability, varieties that can be cultivated in different climatic zones have developed. It is one of the most productive and useful crops and is widely used. Due to the quantity and quality of biomass produced it is a crop with high nutritional needs. For optimum growth, Maize, as a crop with C4  type carbon metabolism (C4 type photosynthesis), except for suitable temperature conditions (high requirements in terms of the soil and air temperature) needs a good supply of nutrients for high effective photosynthesis.

Maize has a specific dynamics of nutrient uptake - its needs rise with the progress of growth. This applies in particular to nitrogen, because the greater part of it is uptaken by Maize during generative growth. Phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium and sulphur directly or indirectly determine the dynamics of nitrogen uptake from the soil, therefore the right nutrition is essential for the proper growth and maturation of Maize at the optimum time. Trace elements are essential for the proper growth and development of Maize, which are specific catalysts of biological transitions and physiological processes. They also positively affect an effective uptake and use of macronutrients. Although crops absorb trace elements in small amounts, their deficiency may cause drastic decline in yield, reaching up to several tens of percent, as well as deterioration of their quality.


The most important trace element in Maize cultivation is zinc (MIKROVIT ZINC or MIKROCHELAT Zn-15), and also: boron (MIKROVIT BORON), manganese (MIKROVIT MANGANESE or MIKROCHELAT Mn-13), iron (MIKROVIT IRON or MIKROCHELAT Fe-13), copper (MIKROVIT COPPER or MIKROCHELAT Cu-15), molybdenum (MIKROVIT MOLYBDENUM). Foliar feeding is an integral part of Maize cultivation modern technology. In terms of macronutrients, it is a complementary treatment (foliar feeding only covers a small part of nutritional requirements), and in terms of trace elements, foliar feeding is the primary and most effective method of nutrient supply. During the development of Maize, crops experience periods of increased susceptibility to various stress factors, such as drought or abnormalities in nutrient availability.
 
STRESS CONTROL SYSTEM (SCS-MAIZE), a strategy of supporting the natural resistance of crops through the use of INTERMAG stimulants and activators, effectively improves Maize natural resistance to adverse environmental and cultivation conditions, hence reducing the risk of loss of part of the yield. 
Foliar feeding of crops with suitable nutrients (PLONVIT fertilisers) and promoting the growth of their natural resistance (OPTYSIL, TYTANIT biostimulants) improve proper crop development, health, and resistance to stress. All these treatments discussed in further tabs, significantly impact the increase in yield and its good quality properties.
